After 6 weeks of careful planning, and battling through some seriously inclement weather conditions, we are Boules Away!
Superglue built and is now is running Boulers for Orangina and the Institute of Competitive Socialising for it’s week-long stint of rooftop Pétanque and ‘mode de vie’ in east London. The venue comes complete with 6 petanque lanes, a cocktail bar, sculptures, posh seating areas, gourmet burgers from Flamin’ Liberty and as much Orangina as you can drink including some delicious Orangina cocktails served by world champion flairers!
Sometimes no matter how meticulously you plan an event beforehand, circumstances conspire to make the build a real challenge. In this case, when we selected the eighth-storey rooftop venue, we knew about the access only via a multi-storey carpark, with stringent height and weight restrictions. Even bringing several tonnes of gravel, set and scenic elements, 150 lavender plants and olive trees and a 6ft sculpture on to the roof for our takeover was a walk in the park when set against the need to paint the open air venue in a torrential down pour that lasted for 36 hours straight.
On Wednesday afternoon the rain eased off and we drafted in some extra help to get the venue finished. Everything looked perfect, drinks were flowing, the atmosphere was fantastic and the sun shone as the celebrities, VIPs and press started arriving for the launch night party.
