Saturday saw Superglue’s Jane Morley in her most high profile speaking role to date, introducing a group of Guardian Masterclass attendees to the world of professional events production. Jane built the course content to explain how Superglue has grown from a diverse group of freelance project jobs to being a cohesive and sustainable company with a roster of happy clients, and used her experience to help attendees avoid some of the pitfalls that can catch out startups in the events industry.
Delegates were from a broad range of backgrounds – some with experience of the industry, others from the creative sector looking to branch out into event production.
Jeremy Simmonds gave an incredibly inspirational account of his journey from student club night promoter to selling his company to a top 10 creative agency and starting his latest venture Swingers. His story provided insight into the world of the event owner and ideal client. Damian Clarkson, founder and owner of The London Kitchen, shared his wealth of knowledge of the industry from the perspective of a cutting-edge supplier.
Everyone left smiling, not least Jane, who is already buoyed by talk of further industry speaker events.
