ROH BP Big Screen 2016

Big Storyline, Big Screen: Il Trovatore, Duthie Park, Aberdeen

Last night we returned to Duthie Park in Aberdeen to show a live production of the Royal Opera House‘s Il Trovatore as part of the BP Big Screens 2016 series. Hundreds of opera fans braved the ominous clouds and were treated to a great performance of Verdi’s revenge thriller.

The BP Big Screen events are a wonderful way to spend a summer evening and we’ve been lucky with the weather every time we’ve been involved. People of all ages bring a picnic, pets and everything they need for an evening of high drama.

The live broadcast from the Royal Opera House via the BP Big Screen in the Duthie Park continues to be popular with 1,700 people enjoying Verdi’s intense opera II Trovatore. Aberdeen City Council’s continuing partnership with BP and the Royal Opera House enables us to bring the wonderful world of opera to a wider audience, offering Aberdonians the opportunity to enjoy a first-rate cultural experience for free on a summer evening here in the Duthie Park.
